This is one of our favorite sayings when working with clients. We always setup a project by trying to understand a clients’ goals for themselves and their business. These goals help us define your brand.
If your goal is to be a regional CPA firm, then you need to start by looking like you are a regional CPA firm, even if you only have a couple of employees. Believe it or not, your look can drive you to your goals.
Now we are not telling you to misrepresent your abilities or services. We are simply saying you need to look the part. A professional logo, business cards and website will instill trust with both your current and potential clients.
If your just starting out you have little else other than your word to offer potential clients. If you’ve been in business for awhile maybe a new look that brings your brand up a notch is all you need. This will show your business as growing and up to date.
We recently worked with a startup organic pest control company to develop their brand and create a professional look for them. They launched on April 1st. Their plan was to launch in the residential market until they had some clients under their belt to approach larger establishments. However, an opportuntity arose the first week to get in front of a large hotel in a neighboring county. Because they were armed with marketing materials that made them look well established and professional they were able to land a corporate client their first week in business.
While this may seem extreme, this is quite simply about looking like you have your act together whether it is your first week or 25th year.
It is nearly impossible to achieve your goals if you don’t set out with them in mind in the first place.
Get started and set some goals for the rest of 2011 and beyond!
