For our business to maintain relevancy, we need to constantly evolve in order to keep the interest of our users. This applies to our brand, website, and yes . . . even social media, specifically Facebook. One of Facebook’s newest ways of evolution has been the introduction of their timeline.
We’ve heard a lot of chatter on this issue. Some love the timeline, some don’t. We’ve compiled a few reasons why you and your business should embrace it.
One of the many great features of the timeline is that it offers more real estate to showcase your brand, starting with the cover photo. The ideal dimension for the cover photo is 851x 315 pixels. At this point, we have created several images for rotation and interest on our own Facebook page. It’s the first thing that people see when visiting you page, so you should make it enticing.
Instead of being able to browse a few months back on friend’s posts, Facebook Timeline can click to see pictures and postings from years prior. All along, Facebook has been known as a notorious marketing tool and this feature will give businesses more of an opportunity to better connect with their community.
With the new Timeline, business pages now look more like personal profile pages. This means a Facebook business page can no longer have a landing page for new visitors using the old “default tab” setting. Not to worry, this only encourages creating fresh content, which is essentially the most effective way to drive new traffic to your brand.
Similar to the old layout, building exposure for your brand will rely on frequent posting. Creating a daily posting plan to develop awareness with fans will increase your exposure. Better yet, look for ways to actively encourage comments with posts by asking questions, creating polls, or publishing other content designed to provoke responses and make your stream active for discussion.
The last version of Facebook Insights did not offer real-time data, so it could take up to two days to get analytics on a post. With the new Insights, companies can now track how a post is doing within ten minutes of publishing. This allows a company to immediately tweak their posts depending on how they are performing.
The businesses that benefit the most will be those that utilize with no hesitation and discover how to best take advantage of Facebook’s new layout.
We’ve activated Facebook’s timeline and love it! Hopefully by now you and your business has it’s timeline up and running too. Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and check our Timeline
