Hey there readers!
My name is Katelyn Drenchen and I am the newest intern at Brand Eleven Eleven. So first I will tell you a little bit about me. I will be a junior at Southeastern University and I am studying Journalism and Public Relations (PR). My big dream is to have my own wedding planning company and help brides on their big day, but the funny thing is that I have never actually been in a wedding and have only attended two weddings that I can remember, but I know that’s my dream! Since I am going into my junior year in college I figured I should probably get some experience since I had never done an internship before and wanted to see what it was like out in the real world, so that is when the searching started…
I was looking for a place where I could do event planning or PR, since I am leaning more to that side of my major. I got got connections with another company, but somehow I ended up at Brand Eleven Eleven and let me just say what a joy it has been working here. I found out quickly that I knew very little when it came to the real world and PR, but Melissa, Brittney, and Jonathan have all been there to help me. Before coming into meet with Melissa for my first day she mentioned that I would be writing press releases, and I had heard of press releases, but I had no idea how to write one so I was like oh great! My first day at internship and I have no clue how to write a press release, so I went home that night and Googled how to write a press release. It helped, but the next day I came in and Melissa had two samples ready for me to go off of and she was going to revise it and show me what she fixed. Let me just say that helped way more than Google.
So to say the least everyone is very helpful from knowing where things are at to helping clients and everything in between!
What I expected coming into this internship was a bunch of people doing their job and helping me, but in a kind of way where I knew they didn’t want to help me. I thought everyone was going to be kind of uptight and unrelatable…Well boy was I wrong. It is a small quaint place that is peaceful, but filled with fun and joy. Everyone helps each other and they like to help each other, just like a family. We have fun and laugh, but we are professional and get the work we needed to get done, done. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to intern, especially it being my first internship.
“Our mission is to provide quality products, services, and attention to every business in our network regardless of size or budget.” This statement describes exactly what I like most about Brand Eleven Eleven. They help out any business in the area no matter their size or budget, even if they are the underdogs, and I always root for the underdogs.
Interning with Brand Eleven Eleven has been a great experience and I will always remember the skills and techniques they have taught me!
Thank you Brand Eleven Eleven

there has to be a line between work and peanrsol life. facebook is great for me for work purposes but at the same time i can’t show my work colleagues/people that are part of my working community my peanrsol life. honestly i don’t like facebook and wouldn’t spend any time on it for peanrsol use. therefore i have an account that is solely for work. i dont’ have any peanrsol photos or peanrsol info and post about work.but i think if your facebook page is for peanrsol use, then you should not even list what company you work for. having drunken photos of you or photos of your kids/spouse, i don’t think is appropriate in the same breath with who you work for. especially those certain employees that have everything on facebook. things should be kept separately. and i think those that wnat to connect professionally need to do it on LinkedIn or something like that. maybe you should tell your intern to connect with you on there. i agree that these social networking places can get out of hand in the work place so they should be kept separate.
