A New Journey Begins
Hey everyone, my name is Peter and I am the new intern for Brand 1111 and I am currently in my final semester at SCF. It has been almost a month since I started my internship here, and so far it has been a great experience. I sort of knew what to expect going in after hearing from my teachers and other people about what the industry is really like, so I came prepared knowing that I would sometimes have to complete multiple projects in a day. I know that being a designer can sometimes be a stressful job, but Brand 1111 has helped make this transition go … [Read more...]
Being An Intern At Brand1111
Hello everyone. My name is Christina Guerrero and I have been interning here at Brand1111 for about 2 months now. I absolutely love it here; I have learned so much. While in school I had the intention of going into the workforce with a steady work pace but man was I wrong. In school we had turn around times a month out compared to here clients want their work within days of us receiving the project. I was warned by Melissa before starting here that I would be handling multiple projects at once and that did make me a bit nervous. At first I was a little … [Read more...]
11 Things I’ve Learned at Brand Eleven Eleven
As a graphic design intern here at Brand 1111 I knew I was going to come out of this having some better knowledge of graphic design and a grasp of what to expect with dealing with real world clients and projects. Here are some things that I've learned over my time here. It's important to save often, because you never know when you're going to be kicked off the server. Or when the battery backup decides to fail. The client is always right. Keep it simple. Keep it clean. People design more in Wordpress than HTML. Remember to always name and … [Read more...]
My first Couple Days at Brand Eleven Eleven
Going into my first internship, like everyone, I was a little nervous. I’d never worked in a professional graphic design place before and I really didn't know what to expect. Would I be doing all the little grunt work that none of the other designers want to do or would I actually get my hands dirty and be involved in important projects? I’m happy to say it was the latter of the two. Everyone around here is friendly and helpful, especially when I have a question on what I am supposed to do (which is quite often). Right know I’m mainly doing website … [Read more...]
Photoshop World 2013
I had the pleasure of attending Photoshop World recently and what a great experience that was. As a graphic designer, I cannot express enough how important it is to attend conferences in your field of work. It’s an opportunity to be among other professionals including people you may be familiar with, which is a chance to learn how they succeeded. This is also a time to expand your knowledge and learn new techniques while working more efficiently. Out of the various workshops I attended, "Down and Dirty Tricks" (from Photoshop User magazine) and Bert … [Read more...]

A Designer’s Inspiration
I am often asked where I get my inspiration for my design work. Quite honestly, I can say that there is not one single place that it comes from. Rather, it comes from all around me. On a daily basis, regardless of what I am doing or where I am at, I am always looking at advertisements, logos, etc; and analyzing those that I think are good, bad, and once in a while - awesome. I do this to keep myself "on my toes" and my artistic eye sharpened at all times. I think of graphic design as a form of art and in order to continue improving your skills, you must … [Read more...]
