Are you pinning yet? Daily users have increased 145% since the start of 2012. WOW. I can’t even imagine that!
Why is Pinterest such a big deal? People have been pinning or bookmarking things for forever. Making lists of websites and items on their own computer. If I look at my web browser I can tell you things I found, things that I like, and things I use all the time. How is Pinterest different from bookmarks? It’s not different at all. Well… maybe a little. They just turned bookmarks into pinning and threw on a graphical twist to the look of bookmarks. They also added the technology of today’s world with connecting through social media. Now everyone can bookmark and find things so much faster and efficiently.
If Pinterest is just a more advanced way of bookmarking, why is there such a possible concern of how legal is it? We all have shared bookmarks. Is it because we have the ability to publicly share articles, images, and products? Did you read the terms of service for Pinterest? I know I didn’t when I signed up but there is concern that says you can basically be sued for repining products, images, and articles without exclusive privilege from the owner of that item. The internet is a way to share your inspirations and interesting news most people aren’t claiming.
What do you think? Are you willing to take the risk? What is the future of Pinterest?
Have you read the new terms? They are available Click Here They don’t go into effect until April 6, 2012.
