Choosing a color theory for your website is crucial. In fact, there are hidden meanings to every color you choose. Here are some examples:
- RED – By choosing the color red, you are projecting high energy, power, determination, passion, and intensity. Red has a very high visibility and will increase the respiration rate, along with stimulate your web visitors. Use red for “Buy Now” or “Click Here” buttons. It is terrific for advertising or web banners, but careful not to overdo. If you sell energy drinks, vehicle related products, sports, games, or any high physical workout programs, red is your color.
- ORANGE – Should be used with reds and yellows, which creates a feeling of happiness and joy. By using the color orange, you are representing enthusiasm, creativity, determination, success, and encouragement. Orange stimulates the mind and highly accepted by a younger target audience.
- GREEN – It is best to use green for natural and herbal products, along with medical products. Also, any healing treatments, or yoga services, green is a terrific color. For darker greens, use for money, finance, or other banking related services.
- YELLOW – Using yellow on your web pages will produce a warming effect and arouse cheerfulness. If you sell food products, yellow is the best color. If you sell items for infants, or high-end products/services, yellow should not be used. However, it is acceptable to use yellow for elementary children products.
- BLUE – Using blue will show your stability as a company. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, and even projects confidence. If you are selling anything to do with water, which could be for drinking, or some sort of boating service. Also use blue for anything that has to do with the air, or sky, such as planes, kites, or even air conditioners, and use blue if you sell high-tech products. Do not use blue in any products or services that have to do with food, or women. (Blue suppresses appetites and is a color favored by men.)
- PURPLE – Using purple will convey luxury and ambition. Purple is a great color for products/services that have to do with pre-adolescent children, magic, mystery, and females. Never use purple for nature products.
- WHITE – This is a color of perfection. It is used for clean and safe products/services, along with charities, winter/northern, religious, hospitals/doctors/medical, weight loss, dairy, and low-fat foods.
- BLACK – Remember that black is the ultimate mystery color. It can be used for products/services that are connected with elegance, prestige, or anything that is formal. A black background will diminish readability for content; however, black can be used to make other colors pop off the web page. Use black with bright colors, especially a combination of red and orange.
