I had the pleasure of attending Photoshop World recently and what a great experience that was. As a graphic designer, I cannot express enough how important it is to attend conferences in your field of work. It’s an opportunity to be among other professionals including people you may be familiar with, which is a chance to learn how they succeeded. This is also a time to expand your knowledge and learn new techniques while working more efficiently.
Out of the various workshops I attended, “Down and Dirty Tricks” (from Photoshop User magazine) and Bert Monroy were my favorite. I wasn’t concerned with the end result of what they taught us, but focused more on the process. I would say that in any industry, the end result is similar. However, the method of achieving goals is going to be different for every person and every business.
As a designer, it is imperative to observe someone else’s process and tweak to my own style, which places me in the best position to succeed. I look forward to the next time I’m able to attend this conference or any other.
Everyone has their own process and style, but your development will only come when you meet others in your field that had already succeeded. Attending conferences is one of the best ways to do that.
