Going into my first internship, like everyone, I was a little nervous. I’d never worked in a professional graphic design place before and I really didn’t know what to expect. Would I be doing all the little grunt work that none of the other designers want to do or would I actually get my hands dirty and be involved in important projects? I’m happy to say it was the latter of the two.
Everyone around here is friendly and helpful, especially when I have a question on what I am supposed to do (which is quite often). Right know I’m mainly doing website mockups which is perfect for me because web design and development is my focus for my degree at The State College of Florida. So far I’m working on website mockups for two different companies and having a blast doing it.
However, using WordPress for all of their websites took some learning, but that is why I am there. Plus, I figured out that I could find a nice theme in WordPress and customize it to the companies liking, which I understand how to do that more efficiently. I’ve also been making graphics for several blog entrees that BEE works on.
I’ve learned how to time manage and juggle four or more projects that have to be worked on during the day, which is somewhat new to me. I really had to crack down and focus to meet specific deadlines. Then I learned some new tricks in Photoshop which is sweet because Photoshop and me do not really mix that well.
All in all the first few days at Brand Eleven Eleven has been wonderful and I look forward to the rest of my internship this summer.
