As a graphic design intern here at Brand 1111 I knew I was going to come out of this having some better knowledge of graphic design and a grasp of what to expect with dealing with real world clients and projects. Here are some things that I’ve learned over my time here.
- It’s important to save often, because you never know when you’re going to be kicked off the server. Or when the battery backup decides to fail.
- The client is always right.
- Keep it simple. Keep it clean.
- People design more in WordPress than HTML.
- Remember to always name and place the file correctly so other people can know what and where to look for it.
- Read the project description first, not last.
- Ask questions even if they are dumb.
- Learn from your mistakes because you will make a lot of them.
- Comic sans is a great font to use for everything. (That one is a joke)
- Google is your friend if you can’t figure something out.
- Responsive web design is the way of the future.
As you can see, I’ve learned quite a few things that I hope will carry on with me as I grow as a graphic designer.
