Content equals sales. It builds relationships and provides a benefit for your target audience. In fact, content searches for your target audience and guides them to your business. You may have plenty of ideas of what your business foundation should be built on, but without content, you cannot be successful.
Let me revise that statement: Without brilliant content, you cannot be successful.
Think about all the places you write something:
- Website
- Blogs
- Social Media
- Newsletters
- Paper Marketing
- Business Card
- Press Release
If your promotions fail, it’s because of poor content. If your press release did not reach a large audience, it’s because of content. If your newsletter subscription is low, it’s because of poor content. If the traffic on your website, blogs, or social media pages is pretty much non-existent, then you need better content.
Advice for Content
With everything you write, remember these three key points:
- The content must benefit your target audience.
- The content must have the opportunity to be shared.
- The content must be posted consistently.
Take a look at your last five blogs. Review them objectively and answer these questions:
Did my blogs benefit my target audience in some way?
Would my target audience share the blogs because the content would help other people?
Have I posted at least two blogs a week over the last three months?
Read your last five posts on Facebook, or Twitter. Ask the same questions.
Next, look at the content on your website. Does every word benefit your target audience in some way? Is the content so terrific that people would share your website? Is the content on your website up to date?
For most businesses, this can be a jaw dropping realization. However, the good news is that like everything it can be fixed.
