Like many others, the first thing that I do upon looking for a specific type of business, is head straight to Google. Odds are, if the company’s site has not been updated since the 1994, does not link to social media, or there is a lack of website all together, I will immediately keep searching for something else. To me, that really says a lot about the business and those who run it. I will always go with the company who has the better looking and user friendly website no matter what. You simply cannot succeed or advance if you are out of the loop. Always being up to date with new techniques pertaining to your industry and utilizing social media are two of the best ways that a business can keep up with the times. If a business will not appeal to online consumers, they are neglecting a great number of potential customers. FaceBook, for example, has over 500 million active users. A number like that should not be ignored, instead utilized to your advantage. FaceBook can be one of the most valuable things as far as communicating and selling online. Countless times, I have seen companies that opt for the cheap and poorly designed website, neglect SEO, and don’t believe in social media. This is a recipe for disaster, especially for the start up business. The world is always changing around us. It is our job as professionals to research our market and always stay ahead of our industry’s trends. That is a recipe for success.
